Théâtre Ouvert Luxembourg
The TOL (Théâtre Ouvert Luxembourg) is primarily dedicated to theatrical creation through contemporary writing. Its mission is both to support local artists and to serve as a springboard for emerging talents, whether they are actors, directors, or set designers.
Founded in 1973 around Marc Olinger, Artistic Director, and Ger Schlechter, President, the company brought together a group of passionate theatre enthusiasts determined to create, from scratch, a professional structure devoted to theatrical activities.
In 1985, a former spirits warehouse, discreetly located off Route de Thionville, was transformed by TOL members into an intimate theatre venue. Today, the space includes two small auditoriums, one with 60 seats and the other with 50, offering a unique sense of closeness between audiences and artists.
As the transmission of knowledge and artistic practice is one of the theatre’s core values, TOL also develops educational and artistic activities for young people. These programmes take place both in schools and on-site at the theatre itself.
