The European Union shapes our everyday lives and even if they sometimes seem very abstract to us: The political decisions taken in Strasbourg and Brussels have a direct impact on our lives as EU citizens. But how exactly does EU politics work? Who are those who take decisions on an EU-level and what does the European Union actually do?

With D’EU um Schierm, the Zentrum fir politesch Bildung (ZpB) and the European Parliament Liaison Office (EPLO) in Luxembourg invite school classes to take a look behind the scenes. Pupils meet online with Luxembourgish MEPs and have the opportunity to ask their questions about the functioning of the EU as well as current political challenges. They will also get a first-hand look at the MEPs’ daily work.

The online discussion takes 90 minutes (2 school hours). Preparation of the students by the teacher is necessary. A pedagogical info kit is provided. Depending on the date, there is also the possibility of a (online) preparatory session by the EPLO. The exchange with the MEPs will be moderated by the ZpB and adapted to the age of the pupils.
